Why Join The Twin Lakes Improvement Association of Cass County?

The TWIN LAKES IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION of CASS COUNTY (our chartered name since 1966)

was established in 1947 for the benefit of all residents of the Twin Lakes area. It has been very

active in many community projects as well as being quite instrumental in bringing many services

to our area. Here are but a few:

  1. Purchased Twin Lakes first fire truck.

  2. Helped bring in electric service.

  3. Helped bring in telephone service.

  4. Helped establish a mail route.

  5. Helped to get main roads paved.

  6. Installed the drain on Big Twin in 1953 to alleviate flooding and possible pollution.

  7. Helped bring in natural gas.

  8. Installed a well and pump system at Voas Park in 1966 to help stabilize the legal lake level

and gave the Twin Lakes Fire Dept. full access to the pump.

  9. Helped install the boat ramp on Big Twin in 1985.

10. Provided for Marine Deputies service.

11. Installed security light at Voas Park.

12. Made cash donations to Twin Lakes Fire Dept. Twin Lakes Ambulance Service, the Police

Dept., and to a scholarship fund at Southwestern Michigan College.

13 Became a member of Michigan Lake & Stream Associations in 1990 and sent

representatives to their annual conference to educate the association on the threats to the

      lake.

14. Helped to get the pumping system replaced in 1992 through Cass County.

15. Worked with township to get a high speed boating ordinance established for both Lakes.

16. Worked with township to replace the drain on north end of Big Twin.

17. Worked with township to get anti-funneling/key-holing ordinance established.

18. Brought a fireworks display back to lakes for 4th of July festivities.

19. Sponsor a 4th of July parade around both lakes.

20. Belong to the CLMP water testing program with Michigan Lake & Stream Assoc. and do

      e-coli testing yearly.

21. Installed memorial stone, flag and flowers in memory of all who have worked hard to

preserve our beautiful lakes for our future generations.

We are sure you are as proud as we are of what the members of this organization

have done for our community over the years…an accomplishment difficult to surpass.

We are determined to continue and always appreciate your help and your

participation. We welcome any suggestions you may have.

If you live on the lakes and are as concerned as the association and its members are

of (1) preserving the lakes for the future and (2) in keeping our lakes safe for all who

use them and (3) are not an association member, then...

YOU NEED TO JOIN US NOW!
