Where We Are

Rainy Lake Property Owners Association, Inc.

Presque Isle County, Michigan

Presque Isle... the name is French and means “almost an island”.  The narrow peninsula from which the county derives its name afforded the early missionaries, explorers, and settlers with a short portage instead of a long, dangerous canoe trip in the waters of Lake Huron.

Presque Isle is land of blue skies, clear water, dense forests, well kept farms, and livable cities and villages.  It is an uncrowded land, but one where you know your neighbor.  The climate is moderated by Lake Huron, and each season's recreational activities are enjoyed by those who live and visit here.

Rainy Lake is located in Case Township, Presque Isle County, in northern lower Michigan.  Our property association represents land ownership encompassing over 1000 acres of beauty and natural wonder.  Rainy Lake, at over 180 acres, is reportedly one of the largest privately held lakes in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Rainy Lake is the product of karsting, the erosion of limestone by water.  Southwestern Presque Isle County is unusual in topography with many large sink holes caused by land caving into the caverns made from the eroding limestone.  Rainy Lake itself is made up of  three of these type of large sinkholes.
