TIDBITS

The Murray Lake Association was founded to consolidate developing civic and community interest among the owners and residents of property on and around Murray lake. The purpose of the association is to:

  • Help improve the quality of life for our members through promoting reasonable regulations for the better use and enjoyment of lake facilities.

  • Help improve the quality of the lake through water testing and policing the lake laws and regulations.

  • To promote cooperation with governmental agencies to secure and maintain public improvements.

  • To share information and concerns of our residents through meetings, newsletters and fliers.

  • To help bring the lake residents together as a community through MLA sponsored events.

As our community continues to grow and change, we, as residents of the lake, must get involved with your Lake Association and your community. When you are involved, you have knowledge, and when you have knowledge, you have power. Stand up, be counted and heard. The MLA is always in need of volunteers, and is always asking for your help and opinions. Let's make this one of the strongest Lake Associations in West Michigan . Only through your involvement can this happen.

The function of the MLA Board is to represent the MLA Membership, not special interest groups. When an issue arises that the majority of the membership feels that MLA should take a stand, for or against, then, and only then, can the Board act.

President: Preside over all meetings, address organizational issues, fulfill all administrative duties, oversee operations and committees.

Treasurer: Maintain all financial dealings, reports, insurance, and organizational compliance. Coordinate with membership chair on current list of paid members.

Secretary: Record and provide copies of minutes of the meetings, provide notice of meetings, maintain bylaws and written records.

What do you get for your $20.00 Annual Dues?

  • The efforts of a volunteer Board of Directors on your behalf, checking on water quality and working with the States' Department of Environmental Quality to keep our public access sites clean and trouble-free. We also address traffic problems on and off the lake and troubleshoot your concerns about everything from nuisance geese to weed control. In 2001, a Neighborhood Watch was established.
  • A directory of the Murray Lake residents which is published every three years.
  • A magnetic Calendar of Events is given out annually.
  • A quarterly newsletter which keeps you abreast of activities, township meetings, lost & found, and general information concerning the lake and its surrounding areas.
  • MLA organizes a summer dumpster cleanup, a garage sale, and ongoing roadside cleanups.
  • For your enjoyment, the board and non-board member volunteers plan and carry out many events.
