The Glen Lake Association has created this web site, in conjunction with the Michigan Lake and Stream Associations, to better communicate with its members and the general public concerning the Association's activities and other issues affecting the Glen Lake Watershed.

Our Mission

The Glen Lake Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, preservation, and continued improvement of the beautiful Glen Lake area in Michigan.

Organization Profile

The Glen Lake Association through its members, riparian and non-riparian, works in conjunction with the Michigan Lakes and Streams Association, and other environmental groups, to maintain the pristine quality of the Glen Lake Watershed.  The association was created in 1954 and currently counts as it members, over 1/2 of the total riparian owners around the lakes and the Crystal River, as well as many other watershed supporters.

Annual Meeting

Don't forget, the 2008 Annual meeting is at the Leelanau School on August 9, 2008 at 9:30 am..

The 2007 Glen Lake Association Annual Meeting was held August 11, 2007 at 9:30am in the Glen Arbor Township Hall.  Nate Whiteside, Jane Haley, and Charles Ofenloch were recognized for their work for the GLA.  The minutes from the meeting can be viewed at this link.

Selected committees have their annual reports posted to this site as part of their individual committee report pages.

The 2006 meeting was held on August 12, 2006 at 9:30am at the Glen Arbor Township Hall with about 120 members in attendance.  In addition to the re-election of three board members, John Rockwood was elected to his first term on the board.  Joanne Sprouse, a retiring board member, was recognized for her long and dedicated work for the GLA.  At the conclusion of the meeting a new memorial to the GLA's four honorary members was dedicated as a site adjacent to the Crystal River Dam, pictured below.

Some of the annual reports can be found on the site in pdf format.   Some slides may require rotating for better viewing.  In particular you can find: Water Level; Web Site; Water Quality.

The 2005 meeting was held on August 13, 2005 at 9:30am at the Glen Arbor Township Hall.  New board members were elected and a modification to the GLA By-Laws was approved after a lengthy discussion.  Other items of interest discussed related to the status of the Fisher/Glen Lake channel dredging and current low water levels, resulting primarily from the significant drought we are experiencing.  An August 23, 2005 meeting of those most closely impacted by the dredging will hopefully result in an agreed to course of action.  Proposals to the Technical Committee will hopefully improve water levels going forward.

At the 2003 meeting, there was much interest in the Aquatic Plant Survey, shown below, conducted by the Water Quality Committee.
