Responsibilities: The Preservation Committee is responsible for the stewardship of the GLA Preservation Fund. These individuals review requests from the organization for funding for projects in support of GLA goals and decides which projects receive funding. They likewise follow-up to ensure that funds are used appropriately as a part of their stewardship. How do you improve upon perfection? Convey your connection with Glen Lake to anyone, and the likely response is - "What a perfect place!" We agree. Sandy shorelines and sparkling blue waters are central to the community that envelops Big and Little Glen Lakes. Our traditions and our family lives are rooted in lakefront activities, boating excursions, hikes on Alligator Hill, views from Inspiration Point, and sunsets over Sleeping Bear Dunes. Although we focus much of our lives on this geographical area, there is inherent risk in taking its viability and future for granted. We would hope that all riparians and future riparians would know how their actions and reactions affect the lake's ecosystem; we would expect that future growth would occur with the viability of the watershed as the "first" concern, not an after-thought; we would trust that the physical structure and nature of the lake remain without supervision and refinements in technology; we would rely on our education system to teach environmental awareness and responsibility. Although Glen Lake seems "perfect" now, the world is not a perfect place. It will take the leadership and vision of those who know and understand the long range issues related to the health and beauty of the Glen Lake watershed to provide for important education, planning, activism and astute stewardship. This is the role of the Glen Lake Association Preservation Fund. Improving on perfection? No. We are preserving it. Preservation is about action - not reaction. To be true stewards of this glorious resource requires the planning and commitment of those who truly love the land and water, and yearn for its purity and perfection to be protected and preserved. Recognizing the increasing need for an effective, ongoing preservation effort, the Glen Lake Association created a Preservation Fund in 1998. This fund will provide for the Association to move forward, with a dedicated effort, in protecting, preserving and continued improvement of the beautiful and unique Glen Lake watershed. Achieving these goals is vital to all Glen Lake community members. We ask for your generous support. Click on this link to print out a contribution form. Fill out and mail to the address on the form.
