Boater safety training classes conducted by the Van Buren County Michigan Sheriff's Department are scheduled this summer as follows:

• June 28, 2008  8:00am - 3:00pm  Lawrence Township Fire Station

• July 12, 2008    8:00am - 3:00pm  Lawrence Township Fire Station

• July 26, 2008    8:00am - 3:00pm  Lawrence Township Fire Station

• August 9, 2008 8:00am - 3:00pm  Lawrence Township Fire Station

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office Marine Safety officer is Sgt. Fred Siegl and he can be reached at 269-657-2006 for registration.

• This is an all day class (8 AM to 3 PM) and participants must be signed up in advance so they know how many will be in the class.  There is no charge but participants should  bring their own lunch.  Participants must be 12 years of age or  older.  Classes are held at the Lawrence township Fire Station in Lawrence.

Boating Safety Certificate A vessel operator who is required to have passed a boating safety course should carry this certificate on board.
