Health and Safety: No report.
Water Quality: As a result of discussion at the March 8 board meeting Chuck Cubbage contacted four other lake associations in the area concerning the issue of burning yard waste along the shoreline and then spoke with Dave Richardson at the Paw Paw Township office regarding a possible Township ordinance prohibiting such activity. The Twp provided additional names of contacts for Lake Brownwood, Cora, Ackley and Three Mile lakes. The concern was also going to be forwarded on to Chuck Eckenstahler, consultant for the Twp in the current master plan revision activities.
Newsletter: A draft of the proposed May newsletter, along with a mock-up of ads received to date, was passed around for board member review. Pat Cubbage reported she had received payment for thirteen ads so far with a few more expected. Doug Dorgan presented a proposal from Kerry Tapper, owner, along with her husband John Tapper, Jr., of Look Sharp Marketing/Sporting Image to provide us an 8 ˝ by 11 sheet for insertion in our newsletter containing advertising on both sides for their business of clothing products with the Eagle Lake name on them. There would be no layout, paper or printing cost to us for this advertising. In return for including this advertisement in our newsletter, Look Sharp would return five percent of the merchandise cost when these advertised products were purchased from the time the newsletter is issued until approximately June 17. The advertisement would contain information regarding the funds going to the Lake Association and the offer expiration date. Board members agreed to accept this proposal and evaluate the results in the future on motion by Chuck Cubbage seconded by Jerry King.
Gary Sargent will discuss the possibility of an ad by John Tapper, Sr. for other businesses his family has interests in.
Nominating Committee: While no formal Nominating Committee was formed, a slate of officers for the 2005 through 2006 term was proposed of willing participants consisting of Chuck Cubbage as President, Skip Youngblood as Vice President, Pat Cubbage continuing as Treasurer and Doug Dorgan continuing as Secretary. Other Eagle Lake Paw Paw Association members interested in serving as officers are welcome to step forward and will be dually considered.
Old Business: None
New Business: Annual Meeting: Because of the amount of funds available and the turnout for the most recent annual meetings, the board agreed to seek a lower cost arrangement for the 2005 Annual Meeting. On suggestion by Pat Cubbage, Doug Dorgan will contact the Van Buren Conference Center to determine if they could accommodate our meeting. The Board members agreed to hold the meeting on either Saturday July 2, June 25 or July 9. Doug will report back to the board members the results of his inquiry via email. Only light refreshments would be offered this year.
Next Meeting Date: May 10, 2005.
Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 755 PM on motion by Ruth Wilkinson second by Chuck Cubbage.
Doug Dorgan, Secretary
