There will be boat inspections done by the Sheriff’s Department after the meeting. Chuck gave a summary of information he received from Ray Newman from Minnesota. He has published material on “over wintering” of the weevil. They will move on shore the first 20 feet. March to mid-May they move back into the water. They are in adult form in September. Enviro Science will have a representative at the Annual Meeting. It is felt we have a “good” population of weevils. The blue gill population is not a concern. It is possible to get four generations in one season from the weevils. Discussion turned to fertilizer use. People need to minimize use of fertilizer. Phosphorus free fertilizer is needed. When weeds decay the phosphorus goes into the water. Nitrogen is not good either. Re: Ads in newsletter. It was decided ads could be put in by members who pay dues. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm. Respectfully submitted, Bernice Packer, Secretary |
