LAKE PAW PAW ASSOCIATION
Board of Director’s Meeting
Van
Buren Conference Center
Tuesday,
June 12, 2001
President Glen Wilkinson called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. Present
were: President Glen Wilkinson; Past President-Mel Brown;
Treasurer-Pat Cubbage; Secretary-Bernice Packer; Vice President-Tom
Kohl; Eagle Lake Park-Chuck Cubbage; Trails End-Harold Finley; Eagle
Lake Campers-Skip Youngblood; Member at Large-John Tapper;. Absent:
Collins Cove-Matt Leighton; Eagle Lake Subdivision-Brian Hanson Hoodrije-Rich
Marcinek, Palmer Beach Rep-David Baker. The minutes were handed out
and read. They were amended
to read –discussion was made to lower the dues to $15.00. The payment of the dues are to include the Riparian.
The set amount will be done at the June 12, 2001 meeting.
A motion was also made at the May meeting to approve a sign to be
put at the Public Access for people to make sure their boats are celan
of debris before entering our lake.
Mel Brown moved to approve the minutes as amended.
John Tapper 2nd.
Motion carried. Treasurer Pat Cubbage gave the treasurer’s report of $3,212.44.
Chuck Cubbage moved to accept.
Harold Finley 2nd. Weed
Control:
Chuck Cubbage stated Enviro Science are to implant the weevil the
week of June 18. They
will probably be here around June 21st.
Enviro Science representatives will be at our breakfast meeting
on June 30, 2001. Suggestion
was made to put notice in Courier Leader and Decatur Republic stating
importance of staying 100 feet away from the buoys from where the
weevils are implanted. Government
Committee:
Tom Kohl had no report. He
commented the way the assessment was done was not what Glen, he and the
assessor had agreed upon. It
was suggested to Tom that he state at the Annual Meeting that the
assessment is just a “one time deal” for one year only. Health
and Safety: Harold
Finley and/or Skip Youngblood will be contacting the Sheriff Department
about attending the Annual Meeting.
They will also see about having some handouts. Finance
Committee:
Pat Cubbage stated she paid the deposit on the tent to be used for the
Annual Meeting. Comment was
made a check needs to be sent to Enviro Science.
Chuck will check with the Township. Further discussion followed regarding lowering the dues.
Mel Brown moved to set dues at $15.00 for the year 2001.
This would include The Riparian, the publication put out by the
Michigan Lake and Streams Assn. John
Tapper 2nd. Par
commented 33 units did not pay dues last year but still received The
Riparian. It was decided to
let it go. Motion passed.
Discussion was made regarding sending a postcard as a reminder of
the Annual Meeting. John
Tapper stated we should emphasize Everyone was welcome, not just
members. John moved to send
a postcard to everyone on the lake.
It should state as follows: 1) Dues lowered to $15.; 2)
Breakfast-Free to everyone around the lake, non-members and members;
3)Stay away from the buoys; 4)Enviro Science rep will be present. Discussion turned to the frequency of the Board of Director’s meetings.
John Tapper moved to have the meetings: January, April, June,
August, September, October. Harold
Finley 2nd. Motion
carried. Discussion turned to the Annual Meeting on June 30, 2001.
The agenda will be basically the same as last year. John Tapper stated he has things basically under control regarding getting
the food, etc. Tom Kohl
stated he will be doing the cooking along with Brian Hansen and whoever
else is willing to help. Paw
Paw Rental will be delivering the table and chairs.
We are getting food for 70-100 people.
Mel Brown suggested the lake people need to be made aware that
there are fertilizers available that are phosphorus free.
We will never be able to stop people from fertilizing their
lawns. People need to be
reminded it is not good to fertilize after July.
Pat Cubbage moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 pm. Respectfully submitted, Bernice Packer, Secretary
