The representatives will then return the questionnaire to Glen Wilkinson so he may forward it on to Praxis. Approval for this was given at the November 13, 1999 meeting. Chuck Cubbage commented he has used their products for lawn care and has had excellent results. Discussion turned to The Riparian publication of Michigan Lake and Streams Association. Cost of mailing is $6.00 per membership. $618 @103, everybody would get a copy. Much discussion followed. Tom Kohl stated it was understood among the people The Riparian was to be received along with being a member of the ELPPA. Harold Finley moved The Riparian be paid for out of the membership dues for the remainder of this year, 2000. A notice will be sent with the dues notice regarding the fee of $6.00 per member for subsequent years. Tom Kohl 2nd. Motion passed. Secretary Bernice Packer will put the list of members on a disk for the Michigan Lake and Streams Association. Health & Safety: Harold Finley stated the sheriff will have information next month on the change of laws etc. Skip Wilkinson suggested putting in the newsletter a list of the laws violated on the lake. Also, the phone number of the sheriff would be added so people know who to call. Finance: No report. Newsletter: We will aim to get the newsletter out before the annual meeting. Perhaps the middle of June. Tom Kohl will do a draft and have part of it ready for the April meeting. An editorial will need to be done by each committee. It was also suggested to stimulate interest in membership. Government: Tom Kohl stated Don Winne suggested establishing a Lake Board. This is not feasible. The best way is to work with the Drain Commissioner, Orin Dorr. There is a drain by the Public Access. The drain is not under our authority. The best way to assure this authority is to have the Association petition for lake level. We would have to establish a legal lake level. He would hire a firm. There is now a steel piling there for this purpose. (There is presently no record of it but the drain commissioner can take care of it.) A board of three members would be established. The petition would be taken to the drain commissioner. Chuck Cubbage said he could help with this committee also. This sounds like a good way to go. The people would have to be petitioned. The drain commissioner would not have to hold a public hearing where the township would have to. (It only takes three people to request a petition.) This item will be put in the newsletter. Tom Kohl moved that the Government Committee pursue a relationship to establish a legal lake level. The drain commissioner would have it on record. Skip Youngblood supported the motion. Motion passed. Glenn Wilkinson will establish the numbers needed. The Annual Meeting will be July 22, 2000. Chuck Cubbage moved the Annual Meeting will be July 22, 2000. Harold Finley supported. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:35pm. Respectfully submitted, Bernice Packer |
