Board of Director’s Meeting

Van Buren Conference Center

Tuesday, August 8, 2000

President Glen Wilkinson called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Present were: President Glen Wilkinson; Vice President-Tom Kohl; Secretary-Bernice Packer; Treasurer-Pat Cubbage; Past President-Mel Brown; Harold Finley-Trails End; Rich Marcinek-Hoodrije; Chuck Cubbage-Eagle Lake Drive; Skip Youngblood-Campground; John Faul; plus ten guests from around the lake.  Absent were: Jerry King, Keepsake; Brian Hansen-ELSub; John Tapper-Member at Large; Alwina Williams- Palmer Beach and Matt Leighton-Collins Cove.

Mel Brown introduced Matin Hivosky from Enviro Science.  Mr. Hivosky gave a very informative talk on the Milfoil Weevil.  The weevil in as big as a sesame seed.  He passed a weevil around preserved in a bottle.  He stated it takes 30 days from egg to adult.  There are three to four generations of weevils per summer if stocked early in the season The weevils are sold in 1000 units.  He suggested 3000 per acre as a general guideline.

Enviro Science will do a survey, measure beds, stock the weevil, come back and check on them periodically.  After a very informative talk, Mr. Hivosky answered various questions.

Everyone was encouraged to go to their respective areas and get petitions signed.

Pat Cubbage moved to waive the general meeting until September.  Harold Finley supported.  Meeting adjourned at 9:00pm.
