Tuesday, August 17, 1999

The First Board of Directors Meeting of the Eagle Lake-Paw Paw Association was held at the home of Chuck and Pat Cubbage, 43682 Eagle Lake Drive, Paw Paw.

Treasurer Pat Cubbage stated we now have $2,727.00 and a total of 91 members.

Glen asked about registering the Association with the State.   Bernice Packer will look into getting this done.

Identification Number will be needed for the bank.

It was decided an attorney will be hired only when one is needed.   Michigan Lake and Streams Association has an attorney which we would be able to use when we become a member of them.  Mel Brown handed out the information.  Glen will make the necessary contact.

Mel will do the final draft of the By-Laws.  Glen stated the By Laws state two years for the officers.   He wanted everyone aware his position is for one year only at the beginning.  Reminder was given Dr. Fusilier will be speaking at the Lawrence Conference Center, Saturday, August 21.   Reminder cards have been sent out to all present members of the Association.  Dr. Greg Smith, of Professional Weed Management, will speak at the Conference Center, Tuesday, September 14 at 7pm.  Post cards will be sent out to let our membership know.  An ad will also be placed in the Flashes to invite all other interested lake property owners.

It was the consensus that we need to hear a variety of solutions so we may better remedy our serious weed problem.  Harold Finley suggested visiting sites of lakes that have used different weed control solutions.  The primary goal is to educate everyone.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be Tuesday, September 14, 1999 after we hear Dr. Greg Smith at the Lawrence Conference Center.

John Faul moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 pm.  Pat Cubbage 2nd.  Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Bernice Packer
