Canadian Geese
and Lake Residents Sharing Crockery Lake so far this
Winter
As of January 24, a majority of the lake
is covered with at least four inches of ice. Skaters,
hockey players, cross country skiers, ice fishermen and
bike riders are enjoying the ice-covered
lake.Unfortunately, at the west of the lake there is
still open water. It looks like hundreds of geese are
taking up temporary residence here. Residents are
complaining about the noise and their pollution. The
geese will leave when there is no open water. Hopefully
this will occur soon. We are not sure
why the entire lake is not frozen.
Gas Line
Applications
All residents have received a packet of
information regarding putting in gas lines around the
lake. We have been waiting for years for this
opportunity! If 73 residents send in $200, they will
proceed with the project. From the data submitted,
natural gas is much more economical than oil, propane or
electricity.

Volunteers her CPA Skills for CLA!
Tina Rooks has volunteered to keep track
of CLA funds via a computer-generated program. This will
be of great help to the CLA Board and we really
appreciate her help!
Application
Submitted for Watershed Study
The Coopersville Foundation will decide
in the near future who will receive their grant monies.
CLA has submitted an application asking
for grant monies for use in a much needed watershed
management study. A watershed management study has never
been done on Crockery Lake.
Before steps can be taken to help
alleviate pollutants coming into the lake from sources
other than lake residents, we must find out where they
are coming from. That's what the study will tell us.
The problem is the study is expensive and
CLA does not have the funds to pay for the study.
Keep your fingers crossed that we will be
the lucky recipient!
Sewer Update
The Township sent letters to residents
who own additional lots on the lake giving them the
opportunity to join the lots and reduce their total cost
for the sewer project. After the Township knows the exact
number of lots in the sewer system, they will be able to
tell us exactly how much the sewer will cost each of us.
