Text Box: Lake Fish Management

It was brought to the Boards attention that we may be purchasing the wrong kind of fish for our lake. Temperature, lake size, depth, water level, lack of nutrients, predators and large loss of water periodically are all factors to our fish abundance and sizes. So to have knowledgeable management of fish and our funds, the Board decided by majority vote to have a fish report done by a biologist. After reading the report, the Board decided by majority vote to purchase Walleye in the fall. Due to timing constraints we weren’t able to purchase the Walleye, so we didn’t stock any fish in 2009, but are considering purchasing Walleye fingerlings (1.75”) in the spring of 2010 for a July stocking of the lake. We will also be discussing if a Lake Survey program of 3-5 years is the route we wish to pursue.

DNR

The DNR (DNRE) told us they would respond to our requests by end of summer of 2009, but as usual for the DNR, we never heard from them and they won’t even answer our emails or return our phone calls as of Jan. 2010. The boards at the Dam were gone this year and the DNR didn’t replace them. We also had enough rain this summer that our lake level stayed up.
At our General Membership Meeting on July 3 , 2010 at 9AM, we will be discussing our Riparian Rights Funds, and possible re allocation of the funds.

Roads

Road grading was kept to a bare minimum this past year, until the roads were quite bad, to keep expenses down. We needed only one dust control treatment this past summer due to all the rain.

Improvements
Fence repair at the boat ramp and park were completed in June. We now see there will have to be additional work this spring.

Horseshoe pits were put in the park, benches were repositioned and re-set, picnic tables and benches were painted, a new metal fire pit was installed, trees were trimmed, and surrounding areas were all cleaned up. Just bring your own Horseshoes to play!

The boat ramp extension was completed and at the top of the ramp some trees were removed making Lake access better.

Delinquents

As of our November 2009 board meeting, we had 32 delinquents. A letter for Demand of Payment was drawn up and after discussion with our attorney, notices were sent our and liens applied. As of Feb 2010, payments have been received by all but 8 members.

Economic Times

In light of our economic times, a request was made of the Board to set up a semi annual modified assessment payment plan, so we did. If your current year assessments are paid up, then in Sept—October of that year you can send in a partial payment for te next up coming year, so the full amount won’t be due all at once. We sent this notice out to everyone and only 1 member took advantage of it.
ALSO, due to economic times, if your assessment is not paid by March 31, a notice of lien will be sent out right away and leins applied. Anyone with a lien will not be entitled to vote or receive any updates or newsletters
