Current Purposes of Michigan Lake & Stream Associations

·         To assist lake and stream property owners in measuring the quality of water of the lake or stream that borders or flows through their property.

·         Publicize the provisions of “riparian rights” property law as it has developed in Michigan.

·         To encourage the formation of lake and stream associations, by riparians, for the purpose of conserving the water resources of the state of Michigan.

·         To encourage lake and stream associations to take action to restore and preserve the quality of water in lakes and streams.

New Goal…

·        To promote educational awareness of water quality issues.

So how are we going to meet our new goal?  We already have several programs up and running that are educational in nature.  What we envision is putting the vast membership of Michigan Lake & Stream Associations to work with a singular purpose in a singular time span.   A few details:

Who?    All members of Michigan Lake &Stream Associations, all schools involved in the school project, and any other friends who are concerned with Michigan’s Waterways.

What?   A ML & SA water day.  We would like to get as many of ML & SA’s members out onto their lake, stream, or watershed where they live, work, and play on.  We will provide a choice of activities and levels of involvement.

When?   We would like the members to get out during the week of October 10-14th, with the all information being collected and sent on the 14th of October.

Why?    We feel that an educated populace will be an involved and concerned populace.
