2010 is now a thing of the past and time to remember to date everything with 2011. I figure by mid March I might actually do that without using white out or a good eraser. Thinking back to 2010, wasn’t that a great summer and fall??? The spring started out with some powerful storms but yielded to hot temperatures, warm lake water, and not much rain the last part of summer and into the fall. Now that’s why we live or vacation at the lake! Let’s hope that the winter doesn’t get it’s payback for our summer enjoyment.
Our 2010 holiday party at Zimmy’s was a great success! I think that it could have been our best attended to date. It was hard to get an accurate count since we had it over a large time frame and we spilled out of the back room and used quite a bit of the main room. Hopefully we can duplicate the numbers this year.
We have been working with the county and township in the effort to get the boat launch repaired or replaced for our upcoming boating season. So far, everyone agrees that the boat ramp is hazardous and needs to have improvements made. We will keep you advised of any progress towards this project.

As I write this, I understand there are a few ice fishermen out on the lake. So here is a reminder regarding some safety factors: Never go out alone. If the ice is 1” thick, stay off; Two to three inches will support one adult walking; Four inches is needed for safe ice fishing. It is a good idea to wear a life jacket for warmth and protection from hypothermia if you do fall in. Bring rope and wear a pair of ice picks around your neck. Avoid areas near streams. If someone does fall in, don’t run toward them, but carefully extend a rope, ladder, pole, or line to them.
Did you know? Our lake area has an Investment Club that meets monthly at TriLakes Church. If anyone is interested, please call Julius DeCocq at 641-2401 for details.

Baldwin Lake July 16, 2011 Poker Run
A poker run is an organized event where participants, using boats, must visit five checkpoints on the lake, drawing a playing card(s) at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event has a time limit, however the participants are not timed – winning is purely a matter of chance. The event will end at the location where it started with the cards turned in to form the hands and prizes awarded for the best hand in each category. Food will be available to purchase while we tabulate scores and you can socialize and enjoy the free entertainment.
Ticket amounts will be $5, $10, and $25, the higher the ticket value the larger the prize available. You can buy as many tickets for hands as you want. More specific details will be available the day of the event.
