All members of the Baldwin Lake Association are hereby officially notified of the annual meeting of the association to be held

SATURDAY, JULY 17, 1999, AT 9 A.M., INDIANA TIME

AT THE CASS COUNTY CONSERVATION CLUB ON US-12

A social hour with coffee and doughnuts will begin at 8:30 a.m. We will also hold our district caucuses and select district advisors for the coming year at this time, prior to the meeting.

The business of the meeting shall be:

1. Reports from the officers and committee chairs.

2. Election of one Vice-President and the Secretary, for two-year terms of office.

3. Discussion of the recently-passed legislation on new regulations for PWCs.

4. Open questions and discussion from the floor.

Announced candidates for officer are:

Vice President----Sharon Pittenger

Secretary---------Carolyn Stephenson

Other nominations may be made from the floor, if the nominee has agreed to run.

Since both announced candidates are reelections, no bios will be printed this time. Sharon lives on Pleasant Street at the north end, and Carolyn lives on the creek north of Baldwin Lake Marina.

Association Dues, membership from July to July, may be paid prior to the call to order by the President and during the social hour.

By resolution of the executive and advisory boards, Don Henke, President.

The annual picnic will begin at 1:30 p.m (IN) and will be at the southeast corner of the lake where Alice Ann Troy lives next door to Pat and Phil Yoder. This provides a nice lake front gathering place with parking available behind their houses on the east side of Sunset. Deep fried turkey and soft drinks will be provided. You should bring a dish to share, your own service, and any acholic beverages if you desire them. We will eat at about 3 p.m., but the fun and games begin just as soon as you get there. There will be games for the children as well, and the water is shallow enough there even for young children. Walk, drive or boat, but be there! If you have guests, bring them along--the more the merrier!

MOSQUITO SPRAYING has been delayed by the heat which killed the mosquitos by the million every day, and by recent lack of rain, which will hatch the eggs now lying dormant and waiting for water. DONATIONS FOR THE SPRAYING HAVE BEEN COMING IN and are being held until conditions are right. First, we need rain to hatch the eggs. Then we need temperatures at 72 or more degrees at 7 p.m., and no appreciable wind so that we don't spray White Pigeon instead of our lake area. For now, mosquitos are not really a problem, but we know that they will be again. You should also know that, as of this writing, Long Lake has opted not to join us in this effort. Please be patient. We will spray.

OOPS! With the help of three proof readers, I have not needed to run an oops column recently, but I certainly goofed last month. Mark your calendars: Community Policing Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of the month, and that makes the upcoming meeting June 28, instead of the 29th. And, the Cass County Fair opens on July 18 and runs through the 24th, a week later than I reported. The Community Policing Scholarship Golf outing will be July 29th at the Hampshire Golf and Country Club. You may enter by calling Donna at the Sheriff's Office, at 663-5225, extension 201. This event provides eight $500 scholarships for Cass County students each year. This year Porter resident Megan Elizabeth Kent received one.
