2008 Secchi Disk testing results
The Lake Level (above sea level) is also shown.

The "Legal Lake Level", established in 1972, is:
755.0 feet above sea level in the Summer (April 1st to October 1st)
753.0 feet above sea level in the Winter (October 1st to April 1st)

Sites Where Secchi Disk Readings Are Taken

    Fecal Coliform tests are scheduled for July thru September, at sites around the Lake.
The USEPA recommendations (in 2000) are:
for body contact recreation is fewer than 200 colonies per 100 mL;
for fishing and boating, fewer than 1000 colonies per 100 mL.

The first set of Fecal Coliform tests were done at various sites around Baldwin Lake on July 06th. The results
of those tests, in random order, were: 09 -- 12 -- 21 -- 21 -- 05 -- 25 -- 32 -- 13 -- 50 -- 98
These were the best results that we have had right after July 4th of any year.

The second set of tests were done at various sites around Baldwin Lake on September 15th. The results
of those tests, in random order, were: 48 -- 300 -- 370 -- 46 -- 130 -- 40 -- 280 -- 160 -- 480 -- 110
Not as good this time. Water was high so there was a lot of "washoff" from the shore.
The samples were taken right after all the extreme rain. The water was also very murky.
