The "Legal Lake Level", established in 1972, is:
755.0 feet above sea level in the Summer (April 1^st to October 1^st)
753.0 feet above sea level in the Winter (October 1^st to April 1^st)

Sites Where Secchi Disk Readings Are Taken

The first Secchi Disk tests were done on May 8^th & the Lake Level was 755.3 feet.
Conditions: Sunny & Calm, 3 rain days the previous week.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 22.5'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 27’ (Hit Bottom)

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 29.5'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 23.5’

The second Secchi Disk tests were done on May 23^rd & the Lake Level was 755.2 feet.
Conditions: Very Windy, Lake Full of yard debris, & no significant rain in 3 weeks.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 20.25'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 23.5’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 24.75'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 20.25’

The Third Secchi Disk tests were done on June 5^th & the Lake Level was 755.2 feet.
Conditions: Slightly Overcast & Cool.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 18.5'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 19.75’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 21.25'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 18.5’

The Fourth Secchi Disk tests were done on June 25^th & the Lake Level was 755.1 feet.
Conditions: Sunny & Cool, very little rain.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 11.25'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 13’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 12'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 12.25’

The Fifth Secchi Disk tests were done on July 11^th & the Lake Level was 755 feet.
Conditions: Warm sunny day, no rain for weeks & area considered in a drought.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 12'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 14.25’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 13.5'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 13.75’

The Sixth Secchi Disk tests were done on July 30^th & the Lake Level was 755 feet.
Conditions: Warm & sunny with heat wave approaching. No significent rain in a month.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 12.5'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 14.25’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 11'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 11.75’

The Seventh Secchi Disk tests were done on August 14^th & the Lake Level was 755.2 feet.
Conditions: Drought condition is over with lots of rain in the last week & much more forcast for the next week.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 13.25'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 14.75’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 11.75'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 12.5’

The Eighth Secchi Disk tests were done on August 28^th & the Lake Level was 755.45 feet.
Conditions: Sunny day after much rain has fallen. Area 7+ inches above normal. Storms & high winds recently.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 13.5'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 12.75’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 11'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 11.75’

The Ninth Secchi Disk tests were done on September 17^th & the Lake Level was 755.18 feet.
Conditions: Partly sunny with cold front. No rain in last 10 days.

Northwest Cove with a depth of 26’ had a 12.5'

Little Baldwin with a depth of 27’ had a 14.’

The Deep Basin with a depth of 57’ had a 14.25'

The South End with a depth of 37’ had a 13’

The Tenth Secchi Disk tests were done on September 27^th & the Lake Level was 755.08 feet.
Conditions: Sunny day with recent rain. Temperature above average in the daytime.

Fecal Coliform tests are scheduled for July thru September, at sites around the Lake.
The USEPA recommendations (in 2000) are:
for body contact recreation is fewer than 200 colonies per 100 mL;
for fishing and boating, fewer than 1000 colonies per 100 mL.

The first set of Fecal Coliform tests were done at various sites around Baldwin Lake on July 9^th. The results
of those tests, in random order, were: 140 -- 24 -- 90 -- 380 -- 81 -- 36 -- 1900 -- 29 -- 20 -- 2200

The second set of Fecal Coliform tests were done at various sites around Baldwin Lake on July 31^th. The results
of those tests, in random order, were: 68 -- 24 -- 700 -- 84 -- 150 -- 1100
